Auburn plans four-jet flyover for fallen airman

Auburn University will honor alumnus and U.S. Air Force Maj. John “Alex” Klinner with a pregame flyover before its football game against LSU. Four F-35 fighter jets from the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing, flown by Auburn graduates, will participate. Klinner, a 2016 mechanical engineering graduate who commissioned through Auburn’s ROTC program, was among six airmen killed in a KC-135 refueling aircraft crash in Iraq while serving on deployment. His family will join Auburn Athletics and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering for a presentation recognizing a memorial scholarship for mechanical engineering students in Air Force ROTC. Klinner is survived by his wife and three young children.
