Auburn Set for SEC Road Opener at Tennessee

Tennessee defeated Auburn 24-14, handing the Tigers their second loss of the season and leaving them 3-2 overall and 1-2 in SEC play. Auburn’s six pre-snap penalties, three turnovers and failure to convert a fourth-and-one helped swing the game, while Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns. The loss comes ahead of a demanding October stretch for Auburn, with road games at Georgia and Ole Miss and a home matchup against LSU. ESPN’s Football Power Index projects Auburn to finish around 6-6, with a 74.7% chance of reaching six wins. Before the game, Auburn coach Alex Golesh had highlighted the challenge of playing at Neyland Stadium, and the Tigers’ earlier preview emphasized quarterback Byrum Brown’s role in limiting mistakes against Tennessee’s defense.
