Audi Plans $4.2B Georgia Plant, 4,500 Jobs
Audi plans to invest about $4 billion to build its first U.S. manufacturing plant at the Middle Georgia Mega Site near Macon, with capacity to produce up to 200,000 premium SUVs a year and an expected 4,500 jobs. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with production expected in the early 2030s. Audi says local production will strengthen its competitiveness in the U.S.—a major premium-car market—and help limit exposure to trade and currency risks, as the automaker seeks growth amid weaker sales in other regions. President Trump announced the project at a Georgia rally while defending his tariff policy; Georgia officials and Audi’s chief executive described the investment as a long-term expansion of the company’s U.S. business.
