Austin, San Jose Set for MLS Western Clash
Austin FC will host the San Jose Earthquakes at Q2 Stadium on Sept. 5, with Austin seeking a second straight league win after beating Portland 2-1 and San Jose trying to halt a difficult stretch. Austin have collected seven points in their last three MLS matches, while San Jose have lost four of their last five and recently suffered a 5-1 defeat to Minnesota. Despite the contrasting form, San Jose sit fourth in the Western Conference and remain a dangerous opponent, having beaten Austin 5-1 earlier this season and generally produced more attacking volume. Austin, 14th in the conference, will look to capitalize on home-field advantage and build momentum as both teams pursue different objectives in the standings. The matchup has historically been close, with six draws in the clubs’ last 10 meetings, although recent home fixtures have favored Austin.
