Amazon cargo plane overruns Miami runway, strikes vehicles and catches fire

An Amazon-branded Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operated by 21 Air as Flight 7598 overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. Sunday after flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The aircraft struck multiple vehicles, caught fire and came to rest near a roadway beyond the runway, sending heavy smoke into the sky. Officials reported at least five deaths and five injuries, although some early accounts had not confirmed the casualty count. More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded. The FAA, airport officials and the National Transportation Safety Board began gathering information about the crash. All runways and taxiways were closed and a ground stop halted flights, with delays expected even after limited operations resumed.
