Multiple Portland Crashes Hospitalize Drivers
A car collided with a TriMet MAX train near North Interstate Avenue and Alberta Street in North Portland shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, leaving the car’s driver seriously injured and hospitalized; police described the injuries as not life-threatening. Emergency crews reported significant intrusion into the vehicle, but no one aboard the train was hurt, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. In a separate Friday crash on northbound I-205 near Northeast Airport Way, a driver was rescued from a burning vehicle and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the investigation affected traffic for hours. Another rollover crash on North Marine Drive that Friday also left a person pinned in a vehicle; firefighters extracted them for on-site medical evaluation, and their condition was not known.
