A Toyota RAV4 rear-ended a pedal tavern carrying 12 people on Demonbreun Street in downtown Nashville around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Nine passengers were injured, including at least two who suffered serious injuries; six were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where one was reported in critical condition and five were stable. Neither the RAV4 driver nor the pedal tavern operator was hurt. The driver told police he was distracted, though investigators have not identified what diverted his attention. The crash remains under investigation.

The investigation should check if the car driver was on a phone since that keeps happening downtown.

Those pedal taverns move slow on busy streets so drivers need to stay focused instead of rear ending them.
