The Colorado Avalanche beat the Calgary Flames 5-2 in Denver, building on an early lead with three second-period goals. Artturi Lehkonen scored twice, Nathan MacKinnon added a goal and an assist, Martin Necas and Brock Nelson also scored, and Cale Makar recorded four assists; Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 25 shots. Calgary’s Joel Farabee and Martin Pospisil scored, while third-string goalie Arsenii Sergeev made 29 saves in his second NHL start after Devin Cooley was injured. The Flames were playing the second night of a back-to-back and traveled from Calgary after a win over Seattle, while Colorado had home-ice advantage and had recently adjusted its defense after Josh Manson’s ankle injury.
