Axelera AI Launches Europa, Secures AI Factory Contracts

Dutch AI-chip startup Axelera AI has launched Europa, its second-generation AI Processing Unit designed to extend its edge-focused technology to enterprise servers, data centers and AI factories. The company says it has signed supply contracts worth tens of millions of dollars and has a sales pipeline exceeding $1.5 billion, though it did not disclose individual deal values. Europa is aimed primarily at AI inference—the running of models in production—rather than training, with validated systems involving Dell, Supermicro and systems integrator E4. Axelera says its chips can deliver up to six times more tokens per second per watt than GPU-based solutions, helping organizations manage rising computing costs, power constraints and data-security requirements. The company has deployed chips with more than 600 customers across sectors including defense, robotics, drones, retail and security, and is targeting Europe’s expanding network of publicly backed AI factories.
