Bagel Shops Plan Openings Across U.S.

Bagel businesses are expanding and diversifying, from Metro Detroit’s established shops and newer makers to new concepts elsewhere. In Detroit, New York Bagel remains a longtime local favorite, while shops including Eastside Bagel and Bev’s Bagels add to the region’s growing options. In Greenville, Bagel City is planned as both a bagel shop and a commissary bakery supplying Augusta Street Market locations, with a focused menu of bagels, spreads and sandwiches. PopUp Bagels is extending its reach with a first Virginia location in Arlington and has received limited kosher certification for its Ardmore, Pennsylvania, shop; that certification applies only to the bagels and plain and scallion cream cheeses, not the rest of the menu.
