Errors send wrong ballots and duplicates to hundreds of voters
Voters in Lynchburg, Virginia, are being urged to check return envelopes for absentee ballot applications after a third-party mailing used an incorrect post office box and ZIP code; officials say the error could delay applications, and the state is investigating who sent them. The post office reportedly redirected some of the mail, but voters who already sent an application should confirm its receipt with the registrar. In Deschutes County, Oregon, about 200 voters in recently annexed areas received the wrong ballot and are being sent corrected ones; officials say only a valid ballot will be counted. Imperial County, California, said a mailing error sent duplicate ballots to about 160 voters with confidential status, while emphasizing that safeguards prevent more than one ballot per voter from being counted.
