BASF raises 2026 earnings outlook after 14% sales jump
BASF raised its 2026 earnings forecast after a strong third quarter, with sales up 14% to €16.4 billion and adjusted EBITDA increasing 15% to €1.6 billion. The German chemicals maker now expects full-year EBITDA before special items of €7.4 billion to €7.8 billion, up from its previous range of €6.9 billion to €7.7 billion. Higher prices—especially in several core businesses—and modestly higher volumes drove growth, while the company said strength across its core businesses supported its improved outlook. Some demand and pricing gains may reflect supply disruptions linked to the Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz, raising questions about whether they will persist; BASF’s agricultural business also remained weak, with sales down 20% in one account.
