BAT Releases Decade-Old Venom Cover Honoring Cronos
Richmond metal-punk band BAT has released a previously unreleased cover of Venom’s “Live Like an Angel (Die Like a Devil)” as a tribute to the late Conrad “Cronos” Lant. Recorded in 2015 alongside material for BAT’s debut album, the track remained in the vault for more than a decade before the band decided to share it following news of Cronos’s death. The recording features BAT’s original drummer Felix Griffin, with engineering by Ian Whalen and Yavé Rust and mixing and mastering by Joel Grind. The band cited Venom’s lasting influence on its sound and said the song had also been part of its early live set.
