Bay Area Under 16-Foot Surf Warning
The National Weather Service warned of dangerous surf along parts of the San Francisco Bay Area coast, with waves reaching up to 16 feet, strong rip currents and unpredictable sneaker waves. The alerts cover areas including Point Reyes, the northern coast and the San Francisco Peninsula, and officials urge people to stay out of the water and away from beaches, rocks, piers and jetties. High tides and large swells also raise the risk of coastal flooding in low-lying areas, including Pacifica; residents should heed local alerts and never turn their backs on the ocean.
