Baylor Rules Out DJ Lagway; Bennett to Start

Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway will miss Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M because of an ankle injury suffered in the Bears’ 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn, though he is not expected to be sidelined long term. Junior Nate Bennett will make his first career start after limited action over the past two seasons. Lagway threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns against Auburn but also had an interception and a lost fumble, while his late two-point conversion attempt fell just short. Baylor may rely more heavily on running back Dawson Pendergrass and its receiving corps as Bennett tries to preserve the offense’s downfield passing threat.
