BBVA Q3 Profit Climbs 19%, Provisions Rise 24%

BBVA reported third-quarter net profit of €3.015 billion, up 19% from a year earlier and roughly in line with analyst expectations. Strong lending activity helped lift net interest income about 22% to €8.079 billion, while fees and commissions also increased. Results varied by market: Mexico’s profit rose 19%, while Spain’s declined 5.5%, partly as trading income fell sharply. Higher credit costs were a concern, with loan-loss provisions up 24% year over year. For the first nine months of 2026, net profit rose 13.6% to €9.066 billion, and net interest income increased 20.8%.
