Bears Edge Patriots 30-24 in Week Seven
The Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 30-24, earning a team-wide win with a productive offense, strong defensive stretches and key special-teams contributions. Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns in his second game back from a hamstring injury, but Chicago’s progress was tempered by costly penalties, including seven on offense and 133 total penalty yards. A late 10-yard sack by Williams left Cairo Santos facing a 58-yard field goal to help secure the win; coach Ben Johnson took responsibility, saying he had not clearly communicated that preserving field position mattered more than running down the clock. The Patriots’ loss also reflected missed opportunities and execution problems, including a failed opening drive and a fourth-down sequence in which Drake Maye could not find an open receiver.
