Beijing Canal Arts Fest opens with global performances

Beijing’s fourth International Canal Arts Fest opened Sept. 24 in Tongzhou, using the Grand Canal as a platform for cultural exchange, tourism and heritage preservation. More than 150 guests and artists attended, while 14 performing groups from 13 countries presented performances; the event also featured international food and crafts and new canal-themed cultural tours. Separately, 18 young people from 11 countries traveled along the canal through six cities, exploring its history and engaging in cultural exchanges. Together, the events highlighted efforts to keep the Grand Canal’s heritage active through international collaboration and public cultural experiences.
