Billings Files Notice to Appeal 28-Year Sentence

Daniel Billings has filed notice of an appeal against his 28-year sentence for murdering his former partner, Molly Ticehurst, in her Forbes home in 2024. The sentence includes a 20-year non-parole period, reduced after Billings pleaded guilty; the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has decided not to appeal for a longer sentence. The murder, committed while Billings was on bail for alleged offences against Ticehurst, prompted changes to New South Wales bail laws. Local representatives have criticized the sentence and warned that Billings’s appeal could renew distress for Ticehurst’s family and community.
