Bloomington Road Renamed Bob Knight Memorial Way

A stretch of State Road 45/46 between Fee Lane and College Avenue near Indiana University’s Assembly Hall has been dedicated as Bob Knight Memorial Way, honoring the longtime Hoosiers coach who died in 2023. Family members, former players, university leaders and state officials attended the unveiling, which followed a state legislative resolution. Speakers recalled Knight’s influence on players and the program, with his son Pat sharing humorous stories and former player Quinn Buckner reflecting on Knight’s demanding coaching style. Knight led Indiana to three national championships, 11 Big Ten titles and the last undefeated NCAA men’s basketball championship, in 1976; he also coached the U.S. team to Olympic gold in 1984.
