Blue Star Mothers Expand Regional Military Support
Blue Star Mothers chapters across the country support military families, active-duty service members and veterans through peer networks, outreach and community programs. In Maine, military mothers have established the state’s first chapter, inspired by the need for connection and support as their children serve; the group plans a celebration in Augusta. Colorado’s Western Slope chapter, now the state’s largest, sends care packages, welcomes service members home and is seeking a specialty license plate to raise its profile. In New York’s Hudson Valley, the local chapter funds veteran mental-health and wellness services, including suicide-prevention efforts, and supports military families and Gold Star families. Another local Blue Star Mothers chapter is also helping with an Honor Flight program honoring veterans.
