Bodum Recalls 5.9 Million Presses After 48 Burns

Bodum USA is recalling about 5.9 million French presses across eight models with replaceable 8- and 12-cup glass carafes because damaged or cracked glass can break during use and cause burns. The company has received 70 reports of carafes breaking, including 48 reports of burns. Owners should stop stirring coffee with metal utensils and contact Bodum for a free plastic stirring spoon and warning label; the recall does not offer a replacement carafe or refund. The presses were sold at retailers including Walmart and Target, as well as online, and consumers should not use carafes that are cracked or damaged.
