Boeing flags 737 MAX landing navigation glitch

Boeing informed all 737 operators last month of a software glitch in certain 737 MAX aircraft that can disable automated flight guidance after a missed approach if pilots change the planned flight path. The issue emerged from a cockpit software update. Boeing said: "We shared information with operators that reinforced existing pilot procedures for safely handling such cases. Our engineers are working on a software update to permanently address the issue." The FAA said it is working closely with Boeing and the airlines and will convene a Corrective Action Review Board, taking immediate action if it identifies a safety concern. Southwest Airlines and United Airlines asked Boeing not to deliver new 737 MAX aircraft with the affected software and requested an earlier version instead. The Wall Street Journal reported the issue Saturday citing company documents. The number of aircraft operating with the flawed software remains unclear.
