Boy Killed, Sister Critically Injured in Michigan SUV Crash

A 12-year-old Williamston boy was killed and his 13-year-old sister suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday after a Ford Explorer struck them while they were riding bicycles on the shoulder of Grand River Avenue near North Meech Road in Leroy Township. The 64-year-old Williamston woman driving the SUV was not injured, and Michigan State Police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash; both children were wearing helmets. The investigation remains ongoing, and police reminded motorists to remain alert, slow down and give bicyclists at least three feet of space when passing.
