BPC-157 Use Grows, Patients Report Serious Harm
Unapproved peptides such as BPC-157 are gaining attention through social media and wellness podcasts, where they are promoted for weight loss, injury recovery and other benefits despite lacking the clinical trials required for FDA approval. Physicians caution that evidence for these compounds is limited and that products sold online may have uncertain contents or purity; this differs from approved peptide medicines prescribed for conditions such as obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Users have reported prolonged fatigue, anxiety, twitching, pain, migraines and other serious effects, and health records and FDA reports indicate growing use and some hospitalizations, though the available data have limitations. The concerns come as federal discussions could widen access to some peptides, while people reporting harms say their experiences are being overlooked.
