Breast Cancer Events Honor Survivors, Support Care
In Nederland, Gift of Life and Philpott Ford & Hyundai honored local breast cancer survivors at their annual drive-through luncheon, where survivor and employee Sarah Sites said seeing others who understood her experience helped her feel less alone. The dealership has partnered with Gift of Life for more than 15 years and pledged $50 for every vehicle sold in October to support breast health services and cancer prevention. In Orange County, City of Hope gave 24 survivors pink jackets as symbols of hope for newly diagnosed patients, while speakers emphasized self-advocacy and the encouraging impact of advances that have lifted overall breast cancer survival rates above 90%. Medford-based Lithia & Driveway raised $163,400 at its annual golf tournament, held in honor of employee Lesha Wood, who is living with Stage IV breast cancer. Norton Cancer Research Center also held a breast cancer awareness “Pink Out” event.
