British Man Charged With Assisting Russian Intelligence
British authorities have charged Joshua Cammidge, 31, with assisting a foreign intelligence service and preparing to commit an act of sabotage under the National Security Act 2023. Prosecutors allege he communicated with and received instructions from a representative of the GRU Volunteer Corps, which they describe as controlled by Russia’s military intelligence agency. Counter Terrorism Policing London and Wiltshire Police arrested Cammidge in Swindon on Sept. 4 and conducted searches at two addresses. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Sept. 10, and the Crown Prosecution Service has emphasized that the proceedings are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.
