Broncos urge struggling Bo Nix to take risks
The Broncos beat the winless Chargers 23-17 to reach 3-2, but Bo Nix and Denver’s offense continued to struggle, with slow starts, few explosive plays and poor third-down production. Nix has appeared hesitant to throw downfield, while protection problems, dropped passes and a weak rushing attack have also contributed to the offense’s difficulties. Coach Sean Payton said Nix’s footwork is settling down and emphasized providing cleaner early-game protection to help him play with more confidence; Payton also wants him to “let it rip.” Some commentators argue that Nix should accept more interceptions if taking greater risks produces more touchdowns and a more dynamic offense. The Broncos face pressure to make progress quickly as they prepare to play Seattle.
