Buddy Guy's 90th Draws Stars to Radio City
Buddy Guy held a sold-out concert, Buddy's Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration, at Radio City Music Hall on October 1, 2026, after turning 90 in July. It lasted more than three hours and was livestreamed via nugs. Steve Jordan was music director and house-band drummer with Ivan Neville, Isaiah Sharkey, Willie Weeks and Kim Wilson. Guests included John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Shemekia Copeland and Bobby Rush. Eric Clapton was scheduled but fell ill on short notice and missed the show. Guy opened on acoustic guitar with Derek Trucks and Isaiah Sharkey on I'm in the Mood. Mayer and Tedeschi performed I've Got Dreams to Remember. Gales and Bonamassa jammed on Baby What You Want Me to Do. Guy and Copeland dueted on Rock Me Baby. Guy and Bobby Rush extended their segment long enough that Radio City staff watched the clock for curfew. All performers closed on Got My Mojo Working, followed by a birthday cake and Happy Birthday singalong. Jordan said they were turning the place into a juke joint. Mayer called Guy a hero, a friend, a mentor. The record shows no rated left-right coverage split.
