Dario Vitale Named First Non-Family Creative Director at Emporio Armani
Dario Vitale has been appointed creative director of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories, effective immediately, becoming the first person outside the Armani family to hold the role. The 43-year-old Italian designer spent about 14 years at Prada-owned Miu Miu before becoming Versace’s first creative director from outside its founding family in 2025; his tenure lasted one season and ended after Prada Group acquired Versace. Vitale succeeds Armani family members Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco in the relevant design roles, while they continue overseeing the group’s women’s and men’s design operations. His appointment follows founder Giorgio Armani’s death in September 2025 at age 91 and gives the family-owned company new creative leadership as it considers its future ownership, including a potential sale or public offering.
