Survey Finds Small Businesses Optimistic Yet Operations Stagnating
A Capital One Insights Center survey of more than 1,000 small-business owners found broad optimism: 75% were confident about the future and 69% said their businesses were positioned for growth. Yet 47% reported that operations had stagnated or become less efficient over the past year, often because of back-office hurdles and disconnected financial systems. Expense management is a particular strain, with 78% saying it leaves them stressed or uncertain; manual receipt tracking, data entry and reconciliation can divert attention from customers and growth planning. The article advises owners to identify where time and effort are being lost and points to better-integrated financial tools as a way to address operational friction.
