Anthropic IPO Filing Reveals Up to $750 Billion in Compute Costs
Anthropic has filed to go public in an offering that could become one of the largest ever and fund its costly AI ambitions. The filing reports $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026 and a sharply widened loss, which the company largely attributed to changes in the value of convertible bonds. It also discloses compute agreements exceeding $475 billion over seven to 10 years, with total related costs potentially topping $750 billion. Many commitments are non-cancelable, including a SpaceXAI agreement worth up to $120.5 billion, leaving the company exposed if demand for Claude weakens or competition intensifies. The IPO will test investor appetite for high-growth AI companies amid concerns about valuations, heavy spending and an uncertain path to profitability.
