Restaurant Closures and Expansion Across U.S. Markets

Restaurant activity in October reflected closures and expansion across several U.S. markets. In the Daytona area, Hooters and Smash N' Crunch closed, while Keeno's Coastal Kitchen shut less than a month after reopening in the former Wing Island space. Nashville has seen more than two dozen restaurant closures in 2026, with owners citing weak customer traffic, rising costs, tighter margins and competition; an operator said 51 North Taproom will close in December. Austin-area updates included new dining and coffee businesses, Taqueria Chapala’s move to South First Street, and a Dog Haus reopening under new ownership as another nearby location closed. Minnesota welcomed new independent eateries and coffee shops as chains including 7 Brew, Dave’s Hot Chicken and Shake Shack pursued expansion.
