Shoppers line up early for Costco's first Amherst warehouse opening

Costco opened its first Western New York warehouse in Amherst, drawing large crowds, with some shoppers arriving hours early to be among the first inside. The opening ended years of anticipation for local Costco members who had been traveling to Rochester, while first-time visitors explored groceries, household goods, local-themed merchandise and the food court. Some people who camped outside the night before were asked to return in the morning, and police monitored traffic as shoppers filled the surrounding parking lots.
