Chicago Parking Strike Ends With Ratified Five-Year Deal
Nearly 1,200 Teamsters Local 727 parking attendants ended their four-day Chicago-area strike after reaching a five-year contract with the Chicago Parking Association, which union members later ratified. The walkout began after workers rejected an offer, saying wages and benefits had not kept pace with inflation and rising health costs. The agreement increases wages and benefits, adds paid time off and a retiree benefit, and protects bargaining-unit work from emerging technologies; detailed terms were not immediately released. Parking operations were expected to resume. Workers had raised concerns about parking at O’Hare, downtown locations, hotels and Soldier Field ahead of the Bears game, though Soldier Field said game-day parking would continue even if the strike persisted.
