Caitlin Clark Releases Mirror-Inspired Children's Book
Caitlin Clark is releasing the rhyming picture book "EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams" on Tuesday, from Random House Books for Young Readers. The 24-year-old Indiana Fever player told the Associated Press in a phone interview that a quote on a mirror in her childhood home inspired it: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA." The mirror is still in her parents' house. "I grew up loving to read books. My mom was an English major in college. She's a bookworm, she reads a lot of books, so she helped me a little bit with this," Clark said. She said she has a part in everything people see and put time and effort into the project. Clark said the book is true to her story and upbringing, including doing a little extra in basketball and needing extra love or courage. Her mother's Christmas Eve book-giving tradition has continued into adulthood, with a note inside each book. The Fever were eliminated in the first round by the Las Vegas Aces. Clark is healthy this year after recovering from injury last year. Her foundation supports youth; she spent time at Iowa Family Children's Hospital while at Iowa. Coverage shows no factual disputes. No left-rated or right-rated coverage was found.
