California Big-Rig Crashes Disrupt Multiple Highways

An overturned big rig blocked all southbound lanes of Highway 99 at French Camp Road in San Joaquin County on Wednesday afternoon, causing major backups and detours; the two-vehicle crash resulted in minor injuries. In a separate incident near Willows over the October 3–4 weekend, a truck struck the trailer of a rice-hauling big rig as it slowed to turn, overturning the trailer and spilling rice, with no injuries reported. Also on Thursday, a tractor-trailer caught fire on southbound Interstate 15 near Rainbow Canyon Boulevard after an engine failure; firefighters extinguished the blaze within about 15 minutes, and lane and exit closures disrupted traffic.
