California counties lift burn permit suspensions as weather improves
CAL FIRE and local fire officials have lifted burn-permit suspensions in San Diego, Sonoma and Siskiyou counties, allowing people with valid permits to resume burning on approved burn days as cooler, more humid weather eases wildfire risk. Permits remain required, and agricultural burns generally require inspection; residents must check with their local fire or air-quality agency to confirm that burning is allowed that day. Officials stress that only permitted materials may be burned and that residents must follow local rules for pile size and clearance, keep water and tools nearby, attend fires continuously and avoid burning in windy conditions. People may face civil or criminal liability if a fire escapes their control, while agencies are also using the conditions for prescribed burns to reduce hazards and improve forest health.
