Camp Mystic Seeks 749-Acre Auction After Deadly Flood
Camp Mystic has asked a bankruptcy court to approve a supervised auction of its Texas property and remaining assets as lawsuits continue over the 2025 Guadalupe River flood that killed 27 campers and counselors. A group backed by camp families and former campers is expected to make the opening bid, though its identity and offer have not been disclosed; a nonprofit has also been reported as a potential buyer. The sale requires court approval, and any new owner would need a state license to reopen the camp. Proceeds would go to a trust for creditors, including families pursuing wrongful-death claims, while the filing does not require the buyer to keep the site operating as a camp.
