Canada snaps eight-game skid against U.S., wins 5-3
Canada beat the United States 5-3 in Windsor in the first of two exhibition games ahead of the women’s world championship, ending an eight-game losing streak against its rival and earning its first win over the U.S. since February 2025. After Daryl Watts and Caitlin Kraemer gave Canada a 2-0 lead, the Americans rallied to tie the game 3-3 in the third period. Sarah Fillier scored the go-ahead goal with 8:15 remaining, and Laura Stacey added an empty-netter in the final seconds. Rosalie Tremblay and Kraemer, both newcomers, scored their first senior international goals. The teams meet again Friday in Plymouth, Michigan, before the championship begins in Denmark.
