Canadiens start Dobes over Fowler, top Stars 5-2

Montreal Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis started Jakub Dobes against Dallas, ending Jacob Fowler’s run of six straight wins after Fowler stopped 99 of 101 shots over the first three games of the road trip. St. Louis cited Fowler’s workload, travel and the team’s demanding schedule in explaining the change, despite Dobes’ recent struggles. Dobes responded with 17 saves on 19 shots as Montreal beat the Stars 5-2, saying he felt comfortable throughout and built on his previous outing. The performance offered hope that Dobes could regain form and give Montreal a dependable second goaltending option alongside Fowler.
