Candidates Meet Voters at Regional Forums
Alaska gubernatorial candidates Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, Dave Bronson and Treg Taylor found common ground on issues including education, fisheries and public safety at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention, but clashed over subsistence rights. Kreiss-Tomkins argued the state should uphold the rural subsistence priority affirmed in the Katie John decision, while Taylor had led the Dunleavy administration’s unsuccessful effort to overturn it; Republican candidate Bernadette Wilson did not take part in the forum. Separately, the Mat-Su Sentinel published a 2026 voter guide compiling candidate answers to voter-submitted questions about Alaska State House and Senate races: 16 of 17 House candidates and five of seven Senate candidates responded.
