Candidates vie for local council seats nationwide

Local council races are underway in several communities. In Louisville’s Metro Council District 23, first-term incumbent Hudson is facing challenger Ainsley Jones; Hudson cites an officer jiu-jitsu training ordinance and a new road near Bardstown Road as accomplishments, and says reducing wasteful spending through procurement reform would be his priority if reelected. Chester’s Ward 2 voters will choose between two candidates, with early voting through Nov. 1 and Election Day on Nov. 3. In Boulder, 13 candidates are competing for five City Council seats, and a candidate forum has focused on 2027 priorities, affordability, and wildfire and climate resilience. Goshen has four candidates running for three town council seats: incumbents Michael Hicks, Derrick Ogden and Chris Robertson, and challenger Jeff Shaffer.
