Three local races decided by narrow margins in Florida and Minnesota
Tad Erickson narrowly won Crow Wing County Commissioner District 3 in Minnesota, defeating Jessica Tabatt by 123 votes after a campaign he said focused heavily on meeting voters. In Cape Coral, Rick Erickson defeated Lisa Cohen-Adkinson with about 52% of the vote to become mayor, succeeding John Gunter, who was eliminated in the primary. The Cape Coral campaign was contentious: Cohen-Adkinson had accused Erickson of sending threatening messages, which he denied, and later faced his criticism over soliciting donations related to a lawsuit against the city. In Port St. Lucie, Steven Giordano defeated incumbent Shannon Martin by just over 2,300 votes, reversing Martin’s sizable lead in the August primary; that contest had been overshadowed by an investigation into campaign signs that led to Martin’s husband and two other police officers being placed on paid leave.
