Capitols Plan Red Lights for Red Ribbon Week
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe ordered the state Capitol dome lit red overnight Oct. 26–27 to mark Red Ribbon Week, the annual drug-prevention campaign observed Oct. 23–31. In Nebraska, the State Capitol will also be illuminated red, while the DEA’s Omaha Field Division is organizing educational events and promoting this year’s theme, “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.” The campaign honors DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena and includes efforts to educate the public about fentanyl; the DEA reported seizing more than five million potentially lethal doses across five Midwestern states during the first nine months of 2026.
