Caudill Double-Murder Trial Opens Months After Prison Release
Dustin Caudill, 47, is scheduled to go on trial in Hardin County on charges stemming from the October 2024 deaths of Blake France and Anthony Garrett in Elizabethtown. Prosecutors accuse him of shooting the two men inside a Henon Lane home and setting it on fire; he also faces robbery, evidence-tampering, wanton-endangerment and firearm charges. Police say Caudill admitted to the shootings, setting the fire and taking the victims’ wallets, and investigators cite surveillance footage showing him discarding a handgun. The case has drawn attention to Caudill’s earlier conviction for killing his mother and younger brother in 1994; he was released from prison in July 2024, about three months before the deaths. The charges are allegations, and Caudill is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
