Cemetery Events Highlight Remembrance, History, Restoration
Communities gathered at cemeteries for remembrance, historical learning and preservation. At Stoney Royd Cemetery, families marked Baby Loss Awareness Week with a two-minute silence, readings of children’s names and personal reflections from bereaved parents. In Warwick, a library presentation explored the cemetery’s origins, notable graves and the people and events reflected in its grounds. A ceremony at South Korea’s Hill 303 honored 41 U.S. soldiers captured and killed during the Korean War. In Louisiana, volunteers began clearing the long-neglected Chloe Historic Cemetery, a burial ground for African American, Creole and Native American families, while descendants work to preserve its history and family ties.
