NBA Joins MLB and NHL in CFTC Deal on Prediction Markets
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the NBA signed an agreement to share information and communicate regularly to protect professional basketball’s integrity in prediction markets and help prevent abuses such as insider trading and fraud. The deal comes amid recent sports-betting scandals and legal disputes over whether prediction markets fall under federal financial regulation or state gambling laws. The CFTC says the NBA joins MLB and the NHL in cooperating with the agency on these issues.
