Chelan County Passes $62.9 Million Preliminary Budget

Chelan County commissioners approved a preliminary 2027 budget that projects $62.89 million in revenue against $67.54 million in department requests, leaving a roughly $4.6 million gap as they continue negotiations before a December vote; the plan includes a legally permitted 1% property-tax levy increase. In Spokane, city and county officials are also confronting budget decisions, including a county shortfall, a proposed reduction in the Spokane Airports budget and possible property-tax increases. Separately, Vietnam’s government says revenue and enforcement measures helped sustain state-budget resources in the first 10 months of 2026 while tax relief supported businesses and citizens. A review of Vietnam’s 2025 budget results, which showed revenue 36.8% above forecast, has prompted calls to examine forecasting accuracy and whether revenue sources are sustainable over the long term.
