Chennai Anna Pool Renovation Inaugurated

The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority renovated the Anna Swimming Pool in Chennai at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore, with inauguration led by Minister Aadhav Arjuna. The Olympic-standard facility now features a 50-meter main pool (depths of 2.5 to 3.5 metres) and a 25-meter warm-up pool, along with upgraded flooring, tiles, pipelines, pumps, filtration systems, ladders and other equipment. A new 1,500-square-foot air-conditioned gym has been added, and qualified coaches are available to train both competitive swimmers and the public. The government is also investing in other pools across the state, including Madurai District Sports Complex (Rs 12.50 crore) and Karur District Sports Complex (Rs 6.27 crore), with renovations at Hosur (Rs 23 lakh) and Velachery (Rs 16.35 crore), bringing four projects to Rs 35.35 crore. Attendees at the inauguration included Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department Secretary Sandeep Nanduri and SDAT Member Secretary J Meganatha Reddy. The renovations are intended to provide a safe, high-quality training environment and to promote swimming throughout Tamil Nadu.
